“We have a long waiting list for our activities even after the second building opens,” said Allison Wyant of Paws Pet Resort. “I’ve talked to a lot of parents and clients who have taken their dog in during the pandemic and want a place to play and hang out during the day.”

“Bissell really sponsors this adoption event, it helps us by lowering our adoption fees,” said front office manager Emily Adkins. “Dogs are $25 and cats are $5.”

While these happen a few times a year, she says about 10 to 15 individual cares per day during the event.

“They usually only do a week and a half to two weeks, but this time they’re doing three weeks,” Adkins said. “By extending the event, it helps those animals move faster as there is more room.”

The empty stage adoption event runs until July 30. About 40 cats and 30 dogs have been adopted so far.

“It’s a good time, because this time of year we see most of our animals come into shelters, you see puppies, you see puppies, you see puppies, animals that are not spayed and have puppies, and those litters take a lot. space,” Adkins said.
