Pit Bull Advocacy Group Celebrates 15 Years Of Rescues,
All our loving dogs are in burqas when they are alone. To make the transition from one home to another as smooth as possible, we recommend that you purchase a crate for your new puppy. A pillow provides your dog with a safe place to stay and also prevents your dog from destroying your belongings and eating potentially harmful items. The pillow is also very useful for practicing at home! Make sure your crate is big enough for your dog to stand up, turn around, and stretch his legs. Make sure it’s not too big. Otherwise, you may notice that your dog has had an accident in the crate. Once your dog has settled into his new home, you can choose to continue living in the crate, keep the crate open, or remove the crate altogether.
If you’re adopting a puppy that isn’t fully vaccinated and can’t walk outside yet, don’t forget to stock up on potty training!
We’re always happy to share what your puppy ate as a parent so you can keep his diet consistent as he transitions to his new home. Remember that changing foods can upset your puppy’s stomach, so they should be changed gradually. Once adopted, we recommend that you consult your vet for advice on what to feed your puppy as there are many options and they can give their best professional opinion.
Preparing For Your Pup — Muddy Paws Rescue
All MPR dogs are born with martingale collars because they are effective and safe for training. A martingale collar and leash is included in the adoption fee and goes home with the dog upon adoption. If you decide to buy a harness like the EZ-Walk, back it up with a carabiner to make sure your dog doesn’t get loose. We also strongly encourage our recipients to purchase standard nylon straps instead of retractable straps as they can be dangerous, especially in New York.
Be sure to dog-proof your home, no matter how old the dog is. Make sure you pick up loose items, remove out-of-reach items from the tabletop, and put valuables away.
We always recommend that adopters visit the vet within 1-2 weeks. This will help you build a relationship with your vet, and it will be the foundation for your dog’s health.

Regardless of your dog’s temperament or age, make an appointment with a trainer. Trainers can help build a foundation for your dog, and training is a great way to help you bond with your new dog. It is especially important for puppies to start off on the right foot in order to properly socialize them and prepare them for adulthood. It is easier to deal with a behavior in the first place than to deal with it for months or years in the future.
If you have basic behavioral questions about your pet, such as excessive barking, crate training, soiling, etc. Contact Boston Animal Rescue’s toll-free helpline.

Contact Stanislaus Animal Services Agency to take advantage of this great program! If you look at the makeup of American families today, it’s rare to find a home where a pet isn’t part of the family. According to the latest data from APPA’s National Pet Owners Survey, 67 percent of households, or about 85 million households, have pets. Of these households, dogs and cats top the list of most popular pets, with 63.4 million and 42.7 million households owning dogs and cats, respectively.
Looking back at the history of animal shelters and rescue organizations in the country, nothing is more problematic than the lack of a centralized reporting system to collect information about these organizations. Most of the available and validated shelter statistics today come from a few periodic surveys, including the aforementioned APPA National Pet Owners Survey and the AVMA U.S. Sources of pet ownership and demographics. Without a national and streamlined process for collecting, organizing and reporting asylum data, there was a huge lack of transparency around the country’s asylums. This makes it difficult not only to find accurate statistics on protected animals in America, but also to understand the true state of animal welfare in the country, which is the first step to improving welfare.
