American Water Spaniel Dog Breeds Pictures – In origin the American Water Spaniel (nicknamed AWS) is American breed. It isn’t known much outside the United States. Because of its amazing sense of smell it is used as a gundog. It is also able to be a companion dog.
Size/Appearance/Grooming
The male American Water Spaniel heights from 38 to 46 cm (from 15 to 18 inches) and it weights from 11 to 20 kg (from 25 to 45 pounds). The female American Water Spaniel heights from 38 to 46 cm (from 15 to 18 inches) and it weights from 11 to 18 kg (from 25 to 40 pounds). This dog has double coat. The outer coat is wavy or curly while the undercoat is protective. The coat can be dark chocolate, brown or liver. White patches on the toes and/or the chest are acceptable.
This breed is a light shedder. It needs to be brushed twice a week and bathed only when necessary because bathing removes the oils in the coat. This may dry the dog’s skin.

Temperament/Exercises/Living Conditions
This American Water Spaniel breed is energetic, intelligent and friendly. It is excellent with children and adults. Some dogs may drool. It has a lot of energy and requires plenty of exercises every day. Long daily walks are needed too.
If it’s exercised right and it gets enough exercises, this breed will be fine even in an apartment.
