American Foxhound Dog Breeds Pictures – In origin, the American Foxhound (nicknamed Foxhound) is an American breed. It is used as a scent hound dog, bred to hunt foxes. It is cousin to the English Foxhound. However the American Foxhound is a bit faster and learner than its cousin.

Size/Appearance/Grooming

The American Foxhound heights from 53 to 64 cm (from 21 to 25 inches) and it weights from 29 to 34 kg (from 65 to 75 pounds). Its coat is hard, harsh and short. It can be found in tri, red, black and tan, and blue. The eyes are usually hazel or brown.

It’s easy to take care of the short and smooth coat. It needs to be brushed with firm bristle brush and bathed only when it’s needed. These dogs are average shedders.

Temperament/Exercises/Living Conditions

This breed is good with kids and other animals. It is sweet, gentle and brave. It’s extremely active and energetic and that’s why it needs daily and vigorous exercises. It needs to jog or run along with you ride a bike. You also need to teach him how to enter and exit doors after the humans.

The American Foxhound isn’t recommended for living in an apartment. They are really active indoors.
